In the spirit of striving to be a "venue that will generate design that sees clearly what is ahead", upon which 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT was founded, 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT will hold an exhibition titled "POST FOSSIL: excavating 21st century creation" on April 24, 2010, with trend-forecaster Li Edelkoort as exhibition director.

"The State of Things," the inaugural exhibition of the Design Museum Holon, features more than 100 objects that collectively reflect issues concerning the practice, consumption and cultural impact of contemporary international design. Ranging from ordinary household items to life-enhancing and life-saving technologies, the objects in this exhibition reveal the same ingenuity and poetic quality evident in the new Ron Arad building that houses them. Each grouping of works represents a contemporary category whether through the materials employed, the concepts conveyed, or the uses intended, these objects reflect our times so acutely that they could only have been made in the last few years, and thus bespeak the current "state of things."

TEN SMALL ATLASES is an exhibition that shows the experience of the IN Residence project, a thematic workshop that involves young international designers of recognised talent and even younger students, held in Torino every year since 2008 in the Residence Du Parc.

Leolux is the largest Dutch manufacturer of contemporary furniture and forms the perfect combination of traditional craftsmanship and high-tech. The collection, created by an international group of freelance designers is divided into 3 spheres, each with its own audience.

Dutch Invertuals, a collective of independent designers will present their latest work during the Salone del Mobile 2010. From 14 to 19 April the different disciplines of product, graphic, food, spatial, material and fashion design are represented in the new space and restaurant of Italian fashion label Verger. With eight different projects, the collective reflects the multifaceted nature of design.

Dutch furniture manufacturer Leolux is ready for the next generation. With a multi-facetted collection, challenging plans and authentic ideas. Having design and craftsmanship as the starting point, with growth as a goal and quality as a condition.

For the 4th successive time, the center of Eindhoven will be the stage and podium for GLOW : A Forum Of Light In Art And Architecture. Running from 6 till the 15th of November 2009, works can be seen and experienced along the route, which are developed by artists and designers, showing different and experimental applications of light art and design which were developed by using new media technologies. This open air exhibition provides a fascinating spectacle of applied light art and design on landmarks and other unique locations.

Matter and Craftsmanship are key aspects of the work of Studio Jo Meesters. The ongoing search for innovation in materials and techniques is the major drive of the design studio which is considered a laboratory for product concepts.

The contemporary ceramics exhibition titled Non Object Ive during Lodz Design 2009 will cover a wide spectrum of the newest ceramic output selected from the international survey showing progression of the ceramic medium in the milieu of the phenomenal design expansion. The exhibit will concentrate on ceramics, which represent the interface between art and design and new interpretations of industrial aesthetics, ready-made product, and the work, which combine new material and advanced methods of production.

An exhibition of 45 unique art vases made by local artists and designers. The collection is expected to expand in the future to 99 art vases. The characteristic Castle of Geldrop near Eindhoven, dating from  1350, and the extremely beautiful country estate lend this unique exhibition an extra dimension.

From 17 till the 25th of October 2009, The Dutch Design Week will take place in the city of Eindhoven featuring the work of both established designers and newcomers. The Dutch Design Week is an ideal opportunity to find about the different facets of contemporary Dutch Design. During this week, Studio Jo Meesters will showcase products and experiments through exhibitions in different venues.

Outside The Box is a project centered on the material cardboard. The exhibition also contains experimental cardboard application and visual impressions of cardboard architecture, interior design, and the original use of cardboard in other areas.

Nine designers were challenged to design a product based on the shape of the plaster mold of a tea bowl. The final results are presented in a period room where the visitors can enjoy a delicious cup of tea at their leisure.

The exhibition DESIGN THAT THINKS is a side exhibition of "SUPER - Neo-barock paths between art and design". DESIGN THAT THINKS is a selection of Design Academy Eindhoven recent and past works which will be framed within the context of ethical design curated by alumni Giovanni Innella and Agata Jaworska.

During Art Object Rotterdam the Designhuis Eindhoven shows a selection of autonomous design by strong talent in the Eindhoven region. Li Edelkoort took up the initiative to found the Designhuis (Designhouse) that strives to give the public, the industry and businesses an insight in the complexity and the versatility of design. By organizing exhibitions, seminars, excursions and pop-up galleries in Milan, Basel or Rotterdam the Designhuis promotes design by confronting more and more people with the power of this discipline. The focus is especially fixed on work that originates from and in most cases is produced in Eindhoven and surroundings; with Design Academy Eindhoven as breeding place of talent this is an appreciative and diverse task.

The Institut Néerlandais in Paris is proud to announce an important upcoming exhibition on the trends that shape our lives. Archeology of the Future: 20 Years of Trend Forecasting with Li Edelkoort will be the first exhibition to identify and analyze today’s most influential lifestyle trends – as seen through the eyes of the world’s leading trend forecaster, Li Edelkoort. This will also be the first exhibition to explore trend forecasting as a profession, and the first retrospective dedicated to Edelkoort’s body of work.

This edition of superstore will reflect this contemporary blend of fashion, product design, music and food. Superstore.06 presents a colorful spectrum of leading designers and young talent, who have been inspired by origin, cultural heritage, authenticity and tradition to create new, contemporary and meaningful designs.

During Dutch Design Week 2008, Studio Jo Meesters presents Testlab. Testlab is about experiments and prototypes using discarded materials, exploring the possibilities of the materials and transforming them into new types of furniture.

During Dutch Design Week, Design Studio Deen will present ceramic works by Studio Jo Meesters, Kiki van Eijk, Sander Luske & Ruth Lodder in their studio located at Luciferstraat 70.

During the ICFF, The Future Perfect in Brooklyn will present six installations from six global talents including Sarah Cihat, Committee, Esque Design, 45 Kilo & Kiel Mead, Jo Meesters and Bodo Sperlein.

This spring Toronto’s Gardiner Museum, in cooperation with curator Marek Cecula, will present the next generation of ceramics. For the first time ever, the work of artists, designers and manufacturers displayed side-by-side, showing that inspiration and method is now being shared between these three distinct worlds.

The concept of sustainability has by now taken firm root in the world of architecture and design. From 13 January through 23 March 2008 the Designhuis Eindhoven opens it's doors to The Family of Form, an exhibition with works of three generations of graduates from Design Academy Eindhoven. In 2007 the exhibition was received with much enthusiasm at the Salone del Mobile in Milan and the Institut Néerlandais in Paris. Now for the first time and in its most extensive form The Family of Form can be admired in the Netherlands. The reason for this retrospective is the sixtieth anniversary of the Design Academy Eindhoven.

A lively and positive demonstration to celebrate everything good and inspirational in nature. Stroll through the fruitful laboratory, and be inspired by this experimental garden where nature merges with sincerely man-made innovative design. Rousing sustainable solutions that the design industry could push forward for a smarter and friendlier future.

During the Tokyo Design Week, held in Japan from 31st October till the 4th of November, 19 designers from Eindhoven, Amsterdam and Rotterdam will be presenting work that illustrates the strength of Dutch design. The exhibition "No Windmills, Cheese or Tulips" will be presented as a still life, like those familiar to us from the "old masters", putting contemporary design from the Netherlands on display in a classically Dutch way.

Lift-Off shows innovative work of talented designers under the title Lift-Off Living. The event takes place in bureau philip van den hurk in the Admirant building in Eindhoven, opposite De Witte Dame, within walking distance of the Central Station.

Back for the third time, Art & Design Sale will take place at the Temporary Art Center in Eindhoven. This exhibition - fair will showcase young and upcoming dutch creatives giving them an opportunity to exhibit and sell their products. Platform 21 in Amsterdam has invited creatives to participate in the building of a train track in Amsterdam for an exhibition and workshop series called Travels Through Paradise. Travels Through Paradise is an initiative to create dialogue, collaboration and exposure of the world of miniature building, with the goal of creating a train track by creatives such as train hobbyists, designers, architects and building modelers, artists, writers, virtual gamers and filmmakers. The show will bring attention to this form of artistry and expose discussions about skill, expertise, passion and love for a medium that is very valuable in both the amateur and professional domains.

Cut, crop and trim in the world of design denotes the decisive movement that gives surfaces a shape (but often to emotions and intuitions too) through a precise and meticulous action in which cutting defines a border, an edge, thus creating the outlines of a shape.

Under the umbrella name ‘Tales from Eindhoven’, eight Eindhoven-based designers and design collectives will present themselves during the Salone del Mobile, the annual international design event in Milan. The furniture fair and the presentations outside the premises of the fair (Fuori del Salone) take place from April 18 through April 23, 2007. ‘Tales from Eindhoven’ is initiated by Yksi Designers and Design Connection Eindhoven region.
